Demonstrating the capabilities in supply of analytical/measurement/control products and system integration
Beijing, September 6, 2010 – ABB, the global power and automation technology group, is participating in the 21st Multinational Instrumentation Conference and Exhibition (Miconex) presenting its control systems, measuring products, and LV controls and systems through a combination of exhibits and seminars, demonstrating its leading technology and industry know-how in the process industries.
Commenting at the trade fair, Tobias Becker, head of ABB Process Automation Division China said. “Miconex is a good platform for leading manufacturers to showcase their industry knowledge and technology innovations. ABB is happy to show our new DCS System 800xA version 5.1, which enables customers to achieve a more collaborative production environment and to improve energy efficiency and productivity.”
ABB is showing several new products and systems at Miconex 2010 demonstrating its expertise and strength in automation. With a particular focus on its new generation of Extended System 800xA, ABB is also exhibiting instrumentation, process analyzers and control systems, and the newly-acquired K-tek measurement products. In addition, there are exhibits of low-voltage products, power distribution components, current and voltage sensors, power monitoring and control devices.
Deeper integration creates a truly collaborative production environment
Integration of power and process automation is one of ABB’s latest innovations. System 800xA allows customers to optimize the design and performance of their systems to obtain extra benefits through decreased maintenance, simple engineering, and lower total life cycle costs. A report from ARC Group shows that CAPEX (Capital Expense) and OPEX (Operation Expense) will nominally decrease 20% with true integration of power and automation systems.
ABB has long been active in promoting and applying high-efficiency automation technologies and recently released the latest generation of the ABB expanded automatic platform – System 800xA Version 5.1 – in July 2010. The system creates a truly collaborative production environment with a flexible architecture and powerful scalability, and supports integration of fieldbus, safety controls, and electrical systems. The new version improves overall system performance and usability with a significantly reduced physical footprint, and promotes operator effectiveness.
Full portfolio ensures more than reliable measurement and control
ABB provides leading technologies via a full portfolio of instrumentation as well. Echoing the announcement of the new version of System 800xA, K-TEK level measurement was recently acquired. ABB has long supplied a full range of devices in flow, pressure, temperature, and process analytics in China, and the acquisition now adds all types of level measurement to our locally made products.
With over 350,000 installations worldwide in different industries, K-TEK has a proven track record in the field of level detection. At the exhibition, several of these level meters will be demonstrated to Chinese customers, including the KM26 magnetic level transmitter, which has unique magnetostrictive design allowing increased level sensing resolution. This technology is more than 100 times more sensitive than conventional reed switch devices. The KM26 was also the world's first SIL2 Certified Magnetostrictive level transmitter. In addition, the AT200/AT600 Magnetostrictive level transmitters, which will be shown, are designed to mount externally to the KM26 to suit specific process requirements. These devices have been installed on over 150,000 tanks worldwide.
Hangzhou Winmation Automation Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of ABB China Ltd., also showcases its hardware and software products in the same show. Targeted to customers demanding a less sophisticated system for typically more straight-forward applications, Winmation allows an easy and effortless start into advanced process control. Winmation is a new brand independent from the ABB brand.
